Eating

I have actually been writing stuff down. And I was good on Tues, it was someone's birthday in work and they brought in a whole load of different flavour cakes, and doughnuts taboot. My hand was reaching in the box, and then I turned and walked away. Fine. Well done. Round of applause.

Today Wednesday and I paying for the little will power I had, because I craved this afternoon in a big way, and about 8.15pm ran out to Sainsburys to satisfy that. And as usual it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I bought a few varieties of sweet stuff. Brownies taste shit. Toffee muffins were yummy though. And other things you don't need to know about. But I also got some 'low' snacks, vegetables, and 2 packs of mango pieces to take to work. so I'll start rectifying tomorrow.

Each day at a time. No one said it would be easy I do expect to have these moments now and again. The Lord knows I love my food yes.

I gone it late.

Motivation is the key.

Good news,

on Sunday I managed to go running on the common. And for all you masqueraders out there that trying to shed a few before the beloved carnival exercise to some soca. Nothing like it. Make a compilation of your favourites to play on your mp3 or whatever while you doing your exercise. It was real fun. I've done it before but having avoided the running for the last month now, it really helped to get the show on the road. And boy I love my Destra. Let me tell you a lil something about the love..

Last year I went back home for Christmas, first time in my 6 years here being home for christmas time. And let me tell you how I avoided the carnival for so, cause not being there, I just didn't want to know. Back home in Diego for the Xmas 05' having nice time with friends etc, and everything was cool. But as we all know, but I forgot, that after Christmas is Carnival season. This Destra Max it up was my SOLE motivation, hearing it over and over again on the radio, bring back the vibes man. I swear it woulda be road march all kinda ting. I HAD to go back again in February. I came back to England in early January, and one time I tell work I need some time off in February again, have to go back to Trinidad yes. It wasn't even for long, 8 days leave my husband and child and gone. That is how bad I had it. I wasn't expecting to go back out for a while after that Christmas, but once I was there and the soca hit, I was like what the hell I was missing out on these last 6 years boy...
In those 8 days, from the night I reach, I party hard when I tell yuh! Fete for so. Sleep was not an issue. Although I must say, nobody told me that Pier 1 cooler fete turn into a ol n'gr scene. Knew I shoulda gone Soca Monarch instead...steupppsee. I went my first Insomnia too. Getting there and getting back was a problem, a serious problem, especially with my road rage. Played J'ouvert with Tribe. Might play with them again this year who knows.

But This year I doing things properly. Taking my husband and child with me as opposed to abandoning them. 'Him' nah wan play in the carnival. He want to spectate. But I'll rope him in with the j'ouvert, and my son beggin meh to play in the duttiness but he's only 5 so he'll have to hold on. He'll play in kiddies, if I haven't mentioned that already.

And after straying for so long the point was to make a compiliation and go exercising to your fav music, soca or not. That was all the motivation I needed, did 2 laps and all. This is walk, jog and run, not running all the way. I not superhuman just yet. Trying..but not there yet.

And back to Carnival

Tribe sections:

Cow Mas - from Tribe, I just don't get it. What is the story behind it? Somebody help me out here a little. And personally I not feeling the costume either. It kinda looks like an outfit more than a costume.

Pierrot Grenade - how come I not really hearing of people playing in this section??

Midnight Robber - I quite like this for a few reasons. I find you really getting your money's worth with this one especially if you play with the standard as a standard is kinda rare with this type of band. Its good to see one make an appearance. It reminds me of the kinda costume you used to get before the the skimpy, two piece and thong era emerged. And last but not least, shelding purposes. Another section no one is raving about

Jab Molassie- the frontline is gorgeous. I love the headpiece for the normal costume too. Lots of sequeny details in the belt and bra.

Jab Jab - Pretty, very colourful and the headpiece is unique I think. I like the fact that you get a choice of 3 colours for one section. Should like good on the road.

Fancy Indian - I am so loving it and I really wished I could play in this, but I was out numbered. And yes I know I've said it before in other blogs, but I can't help it. The only one issue I have with it, is that the mojave headpiece. Looks really nice, but is probably very uncomfortable, heavy even, to be carrying on your head all day in the hot sun. So I would have opted for the cheyenne. Those colours gel together nicely. I vex I not in this.

Jamette - my section, classy costume. not much to say except I wish I had the corset.

Fancy Sailor - cute, very cute. But white ain't my deal really did consider it for a minute. Mummy real like it too

Dragon - I know this is popular. The frontline is similar to that of IP's Sahara Sunset. I like the swimsuit design of them both( T-front thing ) Sexy. Like the wristband piece too for nomal section. But other than that uh....

Fireman - is sexy no doubt and has all the attributes of traditional sailor with a modern effect. My moms had real like this one too

Majorette - a little too complicated for me. the design on the costumes looks aztecish with cross between the fireman and fancy sailor but just in dark blue, and all that for me = no
Again anyone playing in this?

Jean and Dinah - Was on my short list too. But the deterring factor is that it looks like an outfit more than a costume. I could even look past the fact that its a white costume. Its classy, sexy, pretty, cute, you name it. And would probably be minimising the effects of the sun with that big hat and fan. I'd be personally be trying to use the top or the skirt again for which ever option.

Imp - I really like this one, does anyone else? It looks like it should be less expensive too

Bat - Bat frontline is a winner. Perfect colour green. I like the gold against it. And have you seen the belt for the bottom piece? Wow! I think if I had to go frontline in any section in Tribe, it would be this. BUT I don't like the normal Bat.

Dame Lorraine - Wouldn't really look twice at it, but I guess its all right.

Warrior Spirit - Not sure what the attraction is here and how come this particluar section sold out so quickly???? And I know a few people that have said the same thing. Somebody could fill me in on that. Is it the patriotic colours? That's all I can think of.

Maybe I'll do IP one tom. Tired now, its been a long day.

LegoLand, windsor

This was a waste of time. For about 2 years now I saying to my husband every summer, I want to go, I want to go. Well today we went. In tow was my friend and her son. From the entrance, I mean like before the car park there was traffic, queues for the car park. The rides we were lining up for anything between 1/2hr - 1hr. The thing is you line up for so long the ride go round once and in less than 2 mins if that much it done. Stueeppppsee

There was nothing overly thrilling. The only good thing is that it stayed open till 7pm. Not a bad day for September in England.

Paultons Park hands down anyday. As my husband so rightly said, we'd have made it round Paultons 4 times by now. We still didn't get to go on everything we'd have liked to, but did much more between 5.30 and 7 as it was dying down. I think we actually left the park about 8.15pm as we were getting food and other things to take away with us.
And there was traffic for so in the car park to get out, on top of which the driver lost the car(not me). When we eventually found it the traffic was still going but not as bad. It was like when a concert or some event just finish and everybody leaving the same time kinda traffic. NOT MOVING.
Got home 9.50pm.
The kids had fun, I guess that's all that matters.

Samson Nanton

Well this is a hot topic at mo...

My friend just sent me some more pics of his escapades. My word. I feel sorry for the girls you know. They can't go no where now, fellas will real harass them. Lets not mention co-workers, friends and family... ewww to the latter. As much as I maco-ing ( if I not spelling it right somebody let me know) the thing I wouldn't want it to be somebody I know good basis. Now if it was somebody I don't like, on the other hand, I'd be LMAO.
Trinidad modern day sex scandal - where the girls probably real shamed! well at least you'd hope so, cause they'd have some serious ho issues if they didn't.

I swear I know that first red girl face from somewhere. The one with the bob

Total opposite to what you read in these British newspapers and magazines. A soon as these girls sleep with anybody that even just remotely famous, they get their tits out, while posing in sexy underwear, rate the performance and tell all about their romps etc in detail. And getting paid in the process mind you.
What you think about that?

Sleep, need sleep

I have to get myself in gear now. I think that every weekend you know how it go - starting Monday... and before the week even start it gone wrong. I was thinking of going down the route of writing down what I eat. Did that with weight watchers the ONLY diet I've EVER done (cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye). I'm just wobbly in some bits that I want to tone up.
I do my kickboxing on Tues, and Wushu on Thursdays, which is good fun, but I just don't want to picture myself in my sexy costume jumping to one beat and my thighs and bottom moving to a next, you feel me. I just want to tone up some of the upper leg bits, don't we all. Ever since I stopped running over the summer my belly got a bit squishy too, but I figure that fixable.

I have a holiday in Disney over Christmas, so that will require me wearing a swimsuit, and then carnival in Feb in a 2 piece. I was so counting on that corset to help out a bit and now the chupid ting sell out so is bra and bikini bottom, so I really need to get myself organised. Cause I know when I go to Florida it will be pancakes, waffles and bacon, and God alone knows what else, and I don't business, so I need to be 'ok' enough before I go, so I could eat whatever shit I want. When I come back try and even things out before beloved Carni.

But tomorrow I'm going to the pub to meet up with friends for lunch and I know I have the wedges, not sure what else yet. But I'll try and take it easy. Then Mon morning we'll see

Had less than 4 hours sleep last night, one of my friends called from Trini so that was nearly 1am on the phone. Then my little lion wet his bed and I had to get up and change sheets etc between 4am and 5am so I never got back to sleep and I deading. I usually play dead and let my husband wake up to sort him out, I don't know what catch me last night, as soon as he called out I jump out my sleep. Didn't realise what I got myself into.

Good night from me.

Can't wait for the weekend...

Just to get away from frigging work omg. With it being that time of the month, and very busy period at work right now, and me lacking some sleep, I think I'm actually going to turn into a dragon at some point and start breathing fire on people.
So tomorrow best pass quick! I finish at 2pm anyhow which helps. Its not as easy as I though to find a job doing the same kind of hours I do, so I'm just trying to live with this. There are some ok perks and stuff. Things will calm down a bit later I'm sure. But the next 6 weeks, whooo boy...watch this space.

Jamette!!

Well its going to be Jamette. Decision made, all in the space of about 30mins there, so I'll see if I get through with the corset or not. the bra not bothering me. The corset was just nice to cover up some bits you know how it go.

but at least the behind have a little covering, as it's needed. I so studying all this thing, I haven't even had dinner yet and the belly acting up.

Next up will be my son for his costume.. that will be in a couple of months though so that is cool.
My ignorant husband refuse to play carnival this time, he just wants to spectate so fine. he could watch me wine on everybody else...humph!

Finally Island People

well is how long I waiting to see these prices with my own 2 eyes. Again, gorgeous costumes.
Will be decided before the end of the week anyhow, hopefully by the end of tonight.
In a mini- carnival crisis right now with that decision still..what is a girl to do?

Got my Tat today. Pain wasn't that bad, bearable with some toe curling. but its cool. Ah real happy now.

Tattoo

Big day tomorrow. Getting my very first tattoo. Going with a friend who has quite a few, she's also getting something else done so should be an interesting afternoon. Its a lion, I'm a leo, my son's name is Leo ...see where I'm going with this?

hopefully it'll be all good, and I wouldn't run out the chair or anything. I'm really hoping that I take it well..(i.e no crying, screaming, biting my lip too hard)

Its 2 that I want, but I'm only getting 1 done for now, see how it goes. Its a cute one, cartoon like. The other one is 'proper' - a lion head, it real sweet...that one will wait because he told me it have to be bigger than the print out I showed him, so where I thought I wanted it, I have to think twice about if i want a big thing there or not.

beddybyetime...have to leave home on time tomorrow, must try.

Well I reach...

Thanks to saucytrini blog & caisoqueen comments today I finally signed up. That carnival diary she have going there is addictive, and was/is my main source of information for the last 3 weeks or so. I'm living in England unfortunately and very far away from home and the festivities until February. So I really appreciate the updates and ting.

Anywho, with all the frustration (i.e IP), excitement, bitching etc as registration begins, I feel like we should keep the good vibes rolling. After all it all stems from we can't wait to play we mas ent?
when I had first saw saucytrini blog some weeks ago, she was talking about the tension between the IP and the Tribe followers (smtg islandmix or something or the other like that), I was a bit saddened that all that need to be happening you know, come on now..
Then is all the Poison break up, Pulse 8 broke up too, but they still going ahead the old Legends drama blah blah blah. You get what I saying? I feeling kinda old to say, what happen to the carnival spirit dread? I am only 25 by the way. We all know there are some under lying issues that come with carnival which is a shame, but we don't have to go and announce it to the whole world. Killing the vibes man..kinda un-necessary.
Mind you, I vented a little this afternoon after reading some comments from some fool 'ANONYMOUS'on saucytrini's blog, who was basically excusing IP's approach. I'm still a bit miffed with them, but their costumes are soooooooooo pretty. I know if they put up some decent prices NOW (under $3000) I will forget the Tribe thing one time, but never mind me. I'd have thought as Tribe is basically their biggest 'rival' and I mean this in the nicest of ways honestly,( maybe I should say the word competition instead, but people know what I mean right..), that they would have liked to be as upfront as Tribe have been blah blah, but hey what do I know?
Anyway as for right now, it will be Tribe for me yes, supposedly jamette cause that is where my friends want to play, it cute too bad, but I had like the Fancy Indian best. So I still waiting to hear from them to see if they get through with their registration over this weekend gone. Because as we know the corsets sell out so i don't know what they doing.

I'm off to my kickboxing now so laterzz.
